were back!!

After Traveling to the far Reaches of salmon travel in Kodiak Island, Alaska  to the famed Keani river and the Mighty Columbia river filming an upcoming episode of Hawg Quest Trying to get that Elusive 100lb king salmon we realized that the best fishing is really right here on the snohomish river system. As hard as that is to believe we struggled to get fish in some of the the best salmon waters in the World when Bonner is sending me pix of Steelhead and King limits almost everyday right here. We will be right here on the snohomish system for the next Month or so with the fishing only going to get better and better. If you want to go after some truely special fishing give me a call and don”t miss out

The opening day Skykomish River fishing report.  The  water WAS a beautiful, deep green in the upper river, and little more colored up the lower you went, with the color coming from the Wallace and Sultan rivers and the river was running  6,900 CFS and 49 degrees .  There was a lot of boat traffic and quite  few fish caught.  The majority of the fish were Steelhead with a  handful of King Salmon in the mix.

On my boat we sidedrifted with eggs and corkies.  We ended up hooking into several fish and putting two gorgeous 10-14lb summer run steelhead in the boat, along with a couple of nice Dolly Varden.  The bad news is…,  that its raining and raining hard here in the Valley.  I expect the Sky and Snoqualmie Rivers to blow out today sometime :-(

Lets go out and go fishing the river is full of fish and once the water levels recede we are going to be in for some really good fishing.  Give me a call, I have a few prime dates still available.  See you on the water.

Sincerely,

Bonner Daniels

Ps.  One last thing whom ever you are, drift boat guy who thinks he owns the mouth of the Wallace, you should get a clue and figure out that the river is a public place and not your own private hole just because you have an anchor out. It was opening day…, figure it out and learn to share.

SPRINGERS!!!

Well With the springer run starting to taper off it has been a pretty good year with lots of fish to be had throughout the Columbia river system. we have approx another week left for me then it is time to stay at home (waters) with the snohomish system opening up on June 1st. We are quite excited about  new opportunity for the sky summer Kings, much more section of the river is open this year and add 15000 kings with  summerrun steelies there to, it is definitely something to try out. give me a call and get out on the river for some summer fun.

P.S. sorry to the weekend crews who had the dead battery issues. no photos oops!!

I will start off with the mother nature report…., calm one minute, raining the next, hurricane like winds right after that, and finally the Sunshine decides to make an appearance…., but with all that weather came the fish.  I just finished up my winter run Steelhead season and started up my Walleye  and Bass gig.  What a truly wonderful Winter Steelhead season we had…., I sure hope the summer run follows in step.

To the fishing report:  Walleye fishing is very good right NOW and should remain that way through the month of  May.  The Largemouth and Smallmouth Bass…, weather permitting have been biting very well, also.  A typical day in May with me consists of Limiting on Walleye for the grill and then finishing off the day catching trophy size Bass.  I am over East for these fisheries on the Potholes Resevoir and Moses Lake.   If you would like a nice change of pace and a relaxing day on the water, catching fish…, this May warm water fishery is for YOU :-)

On the river side of things June 1st is right around the corner and I will be spending my time chasing Summer Run King Salmon and Steelhead on the Sky and Cowlitz rivers.   The catch and keep, King Salmon season runs from June 1-July 31 and I am running out of open dates on my calendar.  If you would like a chance at these chrome beauties call me before its too late.

Here are the pics from this last weeks guided adventures

Steelies/springers continue

With The warmer weather here for now, so is some pretty good fishing. We have been both on the Columbia and the cowlitz lateley.  Fishing for winterrun steelhead in almost 70 degree weather just seems kind of weird, it is supposed to be like 35 degrees and raining! but we will take it any time mother nature is willing to give it to us. I will be giving the cowlitz one more week of steelhead fishing to finish up what is truly an amazing run so far, if you want one more crack at these steelies let me know there is some room left. Starting the beginning of may we will be down on the wind river or Drano lake to go get after what is going to be a record run in both tribs. I am looking more foreward to this year down there than any in a long long time . I still have dates available let me know.

It’s great to be back home…, even after a NICE vacation in the Hawaiian Sun.  Check out Maui Extreme fishing if your ever on the islands, those boyz really know how to catch the fish.  I was M.I.A. for a few days there.  I sure did get home in the nick of time, as the fishing has been absolutely wonderful.  How can you not love sunshine, winter steelhead and springer salmon all in one.

The Salmon season is in full swing and people who are out fishing for them are catching them.  Big, beautiful, chrome bright, Springer Salmon between I-5 and Willamette is quite good at press time.  Get some herring, or your favorite spinner and get out there!!  It closes here very shortly.  By the way Springer Salmon is nearly $30 a pound at the grocery store!!

I have a few openings left for Late Winter Steelhead and Sping Chinook Salmon on the Cowlitz and Columbia Rivers.  If you would like to book a trip…, NOW is a great time.  My boat averaged 9 fish fought and 4 killed everyday this last week!!!!  It’s on like kong :-)

Here are a few pics from this week’s trips

Once Again thank you to all who fished with me lately down on the Cowlitz. The winterrun steelhead fishing has been as good as I have seen in Years!! and the run just continues to be strong with more and more fish showing everyday with some springers sarting to show up in number now. Sidedrifting has the been the rule as of late working large sections of river from mission bar all the way up to Barrier dam (approx 17 miles of river) there is no one section out producing another we are just moving all day to find the fish. Lot’s of work but  it is paying big, both with #’s and just the steelhead are just Huge on average with Many over the last week in the mid and upper teens. It is not to late to get in on some of the Best steelheading in years with some springers in as well. Give me a call still have some time left

It is officially Springer Salmon, Late Run Hatchery Steelhead and Native Steelhead season…, with that said literally every mainstem river of the Washington Coast and Columbia river has fish in it right now.  Big, Bright, chrome fish…., get out and get in on some of the action.

The Trout lakes have been, or are being planted, the walleye bite is beginning over on the Potholes Reservoir and Moses Lake,  the Potholes Open is right around the corner,  the Grande Ronde, Salmon, and Clearwater Rivers are over flowing with steelhead, and the Westside Chromers  are arriving right now.  What a great time to go out and go fishing in this wonderfully mild weather.

My days have been consisting of side drifting bait for Steelhead and Springers out of my Wooldridge XL Jet Sled, which holds 5 guests comfortably. The fishing has been consistent with multiple fishON’s!!! per day.  This Spring run has started off well and should continue strong and even get better…, well into April. I am currently booked up through the 1st week of April, if you would like to get out and get after some of these Chrome beauties give me a call and lets get you on the schedule before its too late.  See you on the water :-)

Here are but a few pics from this weeks trips….

March fishing getting going!!!!

Well as march rolles in so does some great fishing with the lake trout fishing. late winterrun steelhead and of course springers!!  The trout fishing will not only be getting better at times epic with the smolt release out of the cedar river and Issaquah creek. look for the trout fishing to be best in the top 15 feet of water as that is where the smolt will be staging for the next month or so. I have the next couple of weekdays available if interested! sorry no more weekends available till next month! The late winterrun steelhead is just starting to get going pretty good now with the occasional springer mixed in with them. These steehead at this time of year are some of the biggest hatchery fish you will be able to target and keep. I have only a few dates at the end of this month left so don’t miss out again like you did last year! there is still a few dates left for Drano lake/ wind river for the record run of springers. Give me a call and I will let you know what is available.

The Latest and Greatest Fishing Report

Here is the Steelhead freak report:

Short…,  BUT sweet……,  mother nature has been dealing the perfect “river” hand for the past few weeks and the Steelhead fishing for my boat has been nothing short of spectacular!!  If you want to catch big, brood stock, hatchery Steelhead and at the same time have the opportunity of catching a 20lb plus steelie on the next cast…, now is the time.

From now through Mid-April, I fully expect the Steelhead fishing to continue  on a strong note.  Get a date before its too late :-)

I will let a few of the  pics from the last week speak for themselves.

Sincerely,
